Port Elizabeth, Wednesday, October 24, 2018– This December, all roads lead to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, subsequent to the Premier Soccer League’s announcement, naming the facility as the host venue of the 2018 Telkom Knockout Cup Final.
“It is a stellar achievement for the stadium. This is the third time that a Premier Soccer League domestic cup final will be played at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.” said Mpho Mokonyama, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium Manager
“These types of events are the kind of crowd-pulling offering that ensures income generation and sustained jobs for the city. The aim is to unremittingly keep the stadium operational with action packed events throughout the year. This proves that our venue is a fantastic catalyst for bringing the people together. Based on this, we certainly hope to keep attracting major finals to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.” he said
Ashraf Adam, Chief Executive Office of Mandela Bay Stadium said that it is important to acknowledge that the City would not have been able to secure one of the leading events on the national soccer calendar without a resident soccer team and the support of Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.
“When we took over the management of the stadium, innovative events were at the tops of our list. It’ is therefore a massive opportunity and we are excited to be afforded the occasion to host the Telkom Knockout Cup Final.” said Adam
“Not every City gets the privilege to stage an event of this caliber and this is largely because the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is a remarkable location and the stadium continues to improve its calendar by adding these high profiled sporting events in ensuring that the City delivers on sporting”
The Telkom Cup Final will be played on Saturday afternoon, 08 December 2018
