36 month fixed term contract

The MBDA is a municipal entity of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM), and has invested public funds in a number of urban renewal projects over the past ten years in the Central Business District (CBD) and other emerging nodes in Nelson Mandela Bay which comprises of Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage and Despatch.

During 2016 the NMBM resolved that the MBDA, acting as its agent, manages and operates the Nelson Mandela Bay Multi-Purpose Stadium from January 2017 for a minimum period of three (3) years.

The MBDA is looking for an SAFETY & SECURITY OFFICER that will be responsible to control day-to-day access to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and access for events.

Key Deliverables include the following:

Control day-to-day access to the NMB Stadium
Co-ordinate the operations of the accreditation department
Co-ordinate access to hospitality suites
Assist with compiling post event reports
Assist with ensuring legal compliance with respect to safety and security
Ensure that record keeping ito legislative requirements are up to date
Facilitate safety and security awareness training for special events
Adhere to health and safety requirements
Minimum Requirements:

Appropriate qualification in Security ; special events; Fire & First Aid; Safety Training (min HIRA); SAPS Reservist/ Peace Officer certification.
10 years’ experience in a stadium environment
Core Competencies:

Legislative knowledge of applicable by-laws;
Events Act
Firearms Act
Communication skill
Decision Making
Procurement legislation
High level of stress tolerance
